After preaching on Sunday at Vision LA, someone asked had I heard the news or been on social media to learn that Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna along with seven others were tragically killed in an helicopter crash near Los Angeles. This was definitely shocking news to me. In the same moment my heart dropped especially for Kobe’s wife Vanessa and their surviving children. There really is no words to explain their new normal that I wish on no one to lose a husband and daughter all in one day.
As I walked over to the Staples Arena this week thousands have been pouring into Downtown Los Angeles, LA Live area to pay their respects to Kobe and his daughter. It is literally like a shrine in salute to the G.O.A.T. Kobe Bryant was indeed not only just a gifted professional basketball player, but a beacon of light to his family, the NBA, the fans and the globe. He has left an indelible mark on the life of history to forever and always be written in the book of legends.
May his legacy and life drive be a formidable example of our possibility. Kobe Bryant had the mind of a Champion.
